Blankets, quilts and comforters are to the bed what scarves, sweaters and coats are to the wardrobe—must-haves for warmth and a style statement in the winters.
There are few things that can top snuggling deep into a warm, comfortable bed in the middle of a freezing winter. Many people change their entire bedroom decor in wintertime to make it cozier and warmer by adding woolen bedding, electric blankets, extra throw pillows and even small heaters or heavier curtains.
The only prerequisite for winter bedding is that it should be made of material thick enough to keep one warm during the winter season. This allows for a wide array of choices, the most common of which are wool, fleece and luxurious materials like silk and satin. Winter bedding is available in different sizes and styles, all made to meet specific winter needs of both the young and the old. Cotton materials are often useless during winters, but cotton quilts are recommended for winter use.

Nothing feels better in the winter than a warm, cozy bed. But winter bedding often needs some special care to keep it soft and snuggly. With a little care and preparation, winter bedding will be as fresh as a spring morning even though it may be brought out after months of storage.
The best place to store winter bedding is in the living area of the house because it is climate controlled, unlike the basement, where the bedding could end up with mildew. The storage space should be clean, dry, airy and without direct sunlight. Lidded plastic storage bins should be used to protect material from dust, insects, and rodents. Vacuum-seal bags are a great option, if there is lack of storage space.
