Beautiful and elegant though it is, silk requires careful care and maintenance. silk bedding is considered to be a luxury. It costs a fortune. And so it makes sense to take proper care of it in order to make it last until you get sufficient mileage from it.

Machine Washing and Drying
While some silk sheets should always be washed by hand, some of the high quality silk sheets and larger items of bedding may be graded by the manufacturer as machine washable. They must be washed using gentle setting on the machine, with gentle soap and cool water.
It is a good idea to put the silk bedding in a pillow case or mesh bag to prevent wear and snagging of the silk. Washing should be done in small loads; the washer should not be overloaded. Silk should never be dried in the machine. It should be air dried. If it is absolutely necessary, it should be done on low heat setting and taken out as soon as it is done.
